In July '07 Merseyside Truth gathered together over 300 members of the public across two public events to bring the words and knowledge of William Rodriguez, the last man out of the Twin Towers on September 11th 2001, to the eyes and minds of Merseyside people. The events were a resounding success with praise and audience participation at all levels. William was ecstatic at the response, which culminated in an evening documentary interview at The Casa on Hope Street for both William and Merseyside Truth for a production company focusing on the issues involved in the real story of the Liverpool Capital of Culture 2008 award, an award which we share with Stavanger in Norway, a little known but publicised fact... http://www.visitbritain.com/en/things-to-see-and-do/attractions-and-events/events/liverpool2008/

William Rodriguez worked at the WTC for some 20 years as a janitor, and his duties in cleaning the stairwells to the 110 story bulidings meant that he knew the building literally from top to bottom. His expert eyewitness testimonies included the shocking revalation that there were explosions in the basement area of the North Tower before the first plane hit a 08:46 local time. He said that the explosion was so powerful that it "literally blew us upward".
